Content That Rocks: Effective Article Marketing Tactics

By Kelle Dudack

A lot of the job opportunities of the past have given way to automation, but there are some things in life that computers just cannot do better than humans. Writing content is one of these things, and that's why article marketing requires so much knowledge in order to be able to pull it off correctly. Learn more about it below.

Keep your content up to date. If readers come across an older article and realize it is dated, they will leave immediately. You should try to keep your articles recent, which can simply be done by adding links to updated articles. Take advantage of the "Most Recent" or "Most Popular" features on your site. This way, even old content will generate money for you.

Get away from stiff AP style regulations and rules when you write for SEO. The benefit is references inside your article or blog that are more helpful within search engines. You will have to follow AP rules for content that flows, but reduce the restrictions to generate improved results from search engines.

Be very personable when you write for your readers. It isn't always necessary that you use words like "I" or "me". But, you do want to come across to your readers as a real person. You need to take extra care to ensure that your readers understand that you aren't just some company looking to profit. You are, but they need to see you in a softer light.

Do your keyword research. If you have already written an article, but aren't sure what to title it, look for commonly searched keywords that will fit the article. Do not use keywords that don't match up. No one likes to be looking for fishing gear and click on an article about the most recent music videos. Make sure you don't use overly complicated or formal language in your articles, or you run the risk of driving away your readers. Use simple, everyday language that is clear and straightforward to understand. You want to appeal to the widest audience possible, so don't pitch your articles too high.

The articles employed in article marketing should be written in a style suitable for online reading, which means keeping paragraphs short. The online reader's eye tends to get lost in long, chunky paragraphs, so the ideal online article is broken up into short, punchy paragraphs that are easy to grasp and understand.

As your article marketing resources expand, make sure that your articles are extensively cross-referenced to each other. Do not make links between articles just for the sake of linking, but try to take advantage of every reasonable possibility where one article would support another. A well cross-referenced web of article links will boost your readership significantly.

Work on your word count. A good article should not be too long to be entertaining, or too short to be informative. Different article directories want different sized articles as well. Most look for articles between three hundred to eight hundred words, so if you consistently stick with five hundred, you should be fine.

Don't hesitate to learn all you can about article marketing so you not only learn the skills to create success on your own, but you can also determine the best services when needed. You might not have to know every single thing to get great results, but it never hurts to use tips like these to develop a greater structure to your efforts.
