What You Should Know About Digital Printing That Is Eco Friendly

By Elnora McCullough

Printing is one of the most evolving technologies in the world. There is constant progression from the traditional offset method to the digital printing that is eco friendly. While the later may have different meanings, it is by large the reproduction of digital images on physical surfaces such as paper (common or photographic), plastic or cloth.

There are several digital printers specialized for different production jobs. An example would be the Electrophotographic/Laser Printers know for their characteristic quality color or monochrome printouts. Additionally, there are Inkjet Printers for proofing and desktop publishing. Both the laser and inkjet digital printers use toner and liquid ink respectively to produce high quality photos and document printouts.

Additionally, there are Dye Sublimation and Thermal Transfer Printers. Printers like the Direct Imaging, Ionographic, Electrographic Printers (e. G. The Versatec Printers) and the Digital Stencil Duplicators can also be used. Depending on your production needs, you may occasionally need Magnetographic and Image Setters among other printers.

There are three major types of eco friendly digital publishing namely, the On-Demand, the Variable Data and Web-to-Print. Basically, the On-Demand type requires the use of color printers but is flexible as you may print as few documents as you wish. On the other hand, Variable Data type is best for sending same information with some level of customization. In other words, you can send mails with the same information, but personalized contact details. Finally, the Web-to-Print mostly uses a print management program to facilitate online printing of documents.

There are things you need to know about this method to appreciate it more. For example, one no longer needs to use chemicals and film plates, as is the case with the offset way. This ensures that the environment is safe from pollutants such as solid or liquid wastes and fumes mostly associated with offset method. You also do not need to take long hours setting up the press, mounting plates or adjusting registration and thus save time and money. These characteristics have endeared many people to method.

The flexibility brought about by digital printing is unmatched since it does not require a certain number of orders to be met before production. In addition, updating the print details is easier in this method because you can do it on the computer within a few minutes. This also attests to the fact that the process consumes less time compared to the offset way.

You also need not to worry about quality. While it was a challenge to attain the same quality seen with the offset, it is now possible and even better quality can be achieved though the new method. The use of liquid in some of the new printers can produce print out with superior quality. Fortunately, the use of this liquid ink does not pollute the environment as the chemicals did in offset production. Therefore to be an environmental friendly person, it is better to opt for the publishing method.

Finally, choosing a digital printing that is eco friendly will depend on a certain facts. Primarily, your budget and the type of document or graphics you plan to print are key. On the other hand, the quality of printout you demand may determine the type of printer to use.
