Get Inspired By Looking Through Popular Life Sayings

By Tempie Alan

Anyone who utilizes social networking sites on a regular basis has probably utilized some famous quotes. Many of these people learned the hard way that posting a quote without looking it up first actually attracts critics. The most absurd Internet arguments have been sparked from a simple misquote, or a quote attributed to the wrong person.

In fact there is an entire population of individuals on the World Wide Web who seem to get a great deal of personal pleasure by making others look foolish. These people are frequently referred to as trolls, and not everyone can ignore their rude commentary. In order to avoid being made to look foolish, doing some research when making posts is necessary.

Many quotations are simply quoted incorrectly, and some of these have been done wrong for so long people do not even realize it. A good example comes from the Wizard of Oz where what is attributed to the character Dorothy is not exactly what she said in the movie. These misquotes are frequently seen where one is quoting a book which states something slightly different than the movie.

Using statements made by famous people in history can, at times, express a thought more clearly than a person is able to on their own. These statements become part of the myth of the culture, even when they are misquoted. At times, the statement changes with the culture, as the misquote is more pertinent to modern life than the original statement.

This happens often when people quote philosophers or scientists from ancient times. Sometimes a misquote comes from a simple loss of meaning the translation from their original language to modern languages. There is truly no harm in these misquotes, although trolls will start endless drama on the Internet over even the most simple misstatement.

Their behavior is generally simply bullying, and the only thing a person can do is ignore them. Over the years, many people have turned away from social networking or making commentary on the Internet in order to avoid these bullies. Trolls are usually pathetic individuals who have nothing better to do than go out of their way to humiliate and argue with strangers.

Some aspects of bullying have become so serious that social networking sites are demanding that people use their real names when they create a profile. One thing which has allowed this kind of trolling and bullying is the inherent anonymity of the Internet. Those who maintain social networking sites hope to lessen the bully problem by getting rid of that anonymity.

The rule of thumb, before using famous quotes, do some research before making the post. Try to utilize not only the correct quote, but be certain that you credit it to the true original source of the statement. This can help people avoid confusion and misunderstanding, and one can put the trolls in their place when they attempt to claim that the quote is incorrect.
