Some Scary Horror Stories That Involve Ghosts

By Traci Witt

Whether you are having a sleep over with your closest friends or out on a camping adventure with your family a good story can liven up the mood for everyone and make the overall time spent together a lot more enjoyable. You can tell all kinds of tales but nothing makes a night of time well spent together like telling scary horror stories.

The truth of the matter is that, everyone loves a good ghost story and there are a lot of them to tell at a sleepover or a campfire. There are many legends such as the Amityville Horror, the vengeful stories of Bloody Mary and Bell Witch, and the tragic tales of David Gregory and Carmen Winstead.

The first tale you can bring up is the Amityville Horror, which has a very defined cult following, spanning books and films alike. The story itself involves a crazy madman nicknamed Butch that murdered his parents and then killed his siblings. Since then, there have been reports of hauntings that occur frequently in the house. There have been a number of strange things that have occurred like locked doors and windows becoming mysteriously unlocked.

Another story you can try your hand at is the story of Bloody Mary and it is a terrifying tale indeed that involves a ghost that appears when a person says her name three times in a darkened room in front of a mirror. It is said that Mary was a beautiful girl who got into a terrible accident that left her face horribly bloodied and disfigured.

From then on she vowed that if anyone looked in the mirror and called her name as Bloody Mary, she would disfigure them as well. The story of Bloody Mary itself is also something that has been made into several books and films and may be known but that still doesn't meant you cannot add your own little twist to it to playfully scare you audience.

The Death of David Gregory and Carmen Winstead are two different tales but share a similar premise both involving young people being pushed into a sewer to their deaths. Theses tales are actually rooted by a chain letter that was posted over the internet and although they are similar in context the ways that both victims met their ill fates are quite different.

The David Gregory story involves the letter itself and for not re-posting it as it was stated to, was killed and found dead after reading it in a sewer. The story of Carmen involves her actually being pushed into a sewer to her death by a gang of girls. Both stories are connected since Davids death was caused by not re-posting the chain letter death of Carmen.

The last of the scary horror stories is about the Bell Witch which all happened in 19th century in Tennessee. The spirit associated with this is of a deceased woman named Kate Batts, who believed she was cheated out of purchased land by a man seller. Before her death, she swore to get revenge on the man and all his descendants which would span in a reign of terror for over 200 hundred years.
